Brunch at London Bridge

In my humble opinion, brunch is the greatest.

A tantalising combination of sweet and savoury, once you sit down to enjoy a brunch, you're not in a rush to go anywhere. One seems to get away with eating quite vast quantities of food too - because hey, it's brunch!

Choosing where to go for brunch in London can be tricky - we're spoilt for choice with breakfast hotspots and Instagram-worthy haunts, unsure of whose avo-on-toast is really the best. However, I did have a pretty good feeling about the star of today's blog post.

Sunday morning found my girlfriends and I heading to London Grind by London Bridge, one of the city's many Grind branches. This place has a reputation for excellent coffee, and our friend promised us that the food she'd had here was great.

We settled into our corner table, and started off by ordering coffees all round.

Full marks for the flat white; short, creamy and strong, just the way I like it.

Seeing my three besties again was such a treat - we've been friends since our childhoods {going on 17 years now - eek!} and so we simply had to celebrate a certain lovely lady's birthday.

Whilst gifts were opened, we decided to order some pastries and smoothies to keep us going.

I chose the green smoothie, made with spinach, banana, coffee, cocoa nibs and almond milk:

Utterly delicious.

Plus an almond and chocolate croissant:

Pretty darn good!

We gossiped for a little longer, tucking into our sweet treats and slurping away on our juices. Before we knew it, the main event arrived.

^ The dish this one opted for looked so good.

One-pan eggs, with spinach, tomatoes, beans and pistachio. Totally ordering that next time.

Birthday girl went for oak-smoked salmon and free-range scrambled eggs on sourdough:

Whilst the missus next to me chose poached eggs to go with hers:

Me? I went for the all-time classic...

Smashed avocado with chilli on toast. Nothing else, just naked avo, with heaps of fresh lemon juice squeezed on top. Divine!

We lazily ate our way through the plates of food in front of us, until we sat back in our stools with the bright April sunshine bursting in through the open windows. I can thoroughly recommend this place as your next brunch spot in the city - just make sure you book if you want to guarantee a table, as unsurprisingly it gets pretty busy!
